Job Summary:

The Community Health Center of Buffalo is seeking a skilled Medical Records Technician to maintain the integrity of patient health information. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and experience working with electronic medical records systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient health information in electronic medical records systems.
  • Schedule appointments and complete pre-registration tasks to ensure accurate billing.
  • Discern when clinical healthcare staff intervention is required.
  • Coordinate patient and information flow while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA laws.
  • Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance activities.
  • Complete prior authorizations and referrals, and provide specialist resource information.
  • Track and log patient information.
  • Attend meetings as required.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience delivering customer service at a high level.
  • Two years of experience in medical records or relevant healthcare experience.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Three years of experience delivering customer service at a high level.
  • Three years of medical records experience or relevant healthcare experience.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office.

Union Position: 1199SEIU. Pay: $15.50 - $18.71/hr.
