POSITION OVERVIEW
FGP is seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator with a robust background in commercial and industrial construction. The ideal candidate will have experience in estimating for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing information.
- Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for Project Managers.
- Assess and price all modifications and changes to project scopes.
- Communicate any revisions and updates to Project Managers promptly.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers to develop project proposals.
- Conduct weekly reviews of invoice coding to identify discrepancies in unit costs.
- Maintain an accurate database of unit pricing for estimating purposes.
- Manage the procurement and receipt of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical components.
- Inspect received items for quality and manage returns as necessary.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and proficiency in Excel.
- Ensure the Order Tracker is consistently updated.
- Work closely with Sales and Construction Managers to document and price Change Order Requests.
- Coordinate with Sales and Accounts Payable to facilitate payment for change orders.
- Perform additional duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in the commercial and industrial construction sector as an Estimator.
- Proficiency in mechanical estimation is highly desirable, with a focus on commercial plumbing.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
