We are currently seeking a Unit Manager who is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care within a secure institutional environment.
The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the staff assigned to the unit and managing the unit's programs. This role involves acting as a liaison throughout the facility by participating in various administrative meetings, thereby connecting the unit to the overall facility operations. Additionally, this individual ensures that the unit is adequately staffed and monitors the utilization of manpower resources effectively. They will also evaluate and track the unit's performance, focusing on addressing any identified shortcomings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise the staff assigned to the unit, ensuring they perform their duties effectively and conduct evaluations as per facility and corporate policies.
- Engage in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation processes for assigned staff.
- Clearly communicate responsibilities, authorities, and accountability to all direct reports to ensure clarity and understanding.
- Complete written performance evaluations for all staff under direct supervision and review evaluations completed by subordinate managers or supervisors in line with corporate guidelines.
- Regularly review payroll records of subordinates and monitor overtime usage.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
- Three years of experience in a criminal justice environment, including two years in a supervisory role or two years as a CoreCivic Case Manager or Correctional Counselor, is required.
- Additional qualifying education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience on a "CoreCivic Way" unit management team, including time served as an acting Unit Manager, may substitute for the aforementioned qualifications.
- Must possess knowledge of correctional facility management principles, supervision, training, and relevant corrections laws, rules, and regulations.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
