We are seeking a qualified Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at the California Department of Education. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will provide vital health care services to students in our district, working closely with staff, parents, and students.

\

About the Role

\

In this role, you will be responsible for providing school health and nursing services, including glucose testing, administration of insulin, catheterization, blood pressure monitoring, and other specialized procedures. You will also assist with health screenings, immunizations, dental and recording procedures, and implement emergency health care plans as designated by the school nurse, parent, and physician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical support to students with various health needs\
  • Administer prescribed medications according to instructions and district policies\
  • Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate\
  • Maintain health records for students\
  • Communicate with district personnel and outside organizations\
  • Assist in ordering of health supplies\
  • Attend and participate in various in-service trainings and meetings\

Requirements

\

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong interpersonal skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy when interacting with students, staff, and parents. You should have knowledge of universal health care precautions, modern medical terminology, equipment, and techniques. A valid LVN license and CPR certification are required.

Compensation and Benefits

\

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, and paid time off.
