About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC Chiller Apprentice to join our team at Johnson Controls. As an HVAC Chiller Apprentice, you will play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and general servicing of mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface.
  • Mentor peers on mechanical HVAC installation and service activities.
  • Properly complete required project and service documentation.
How You Will Do It

As an HVAC Chiller Apprentice, you will be governed by the local union agreement and will perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service and all other work coming under this Agreement assigned by the Employer, limited only by your capabilities as determined by the Employer.

Key Tasks
  • Change and service filters.
  • Oil and grease mechanical components.
  • Adjust or replace belts.
  • Clean cooling towers, coils, chiller evaporator and condenser tubes.
  • Maintain other mechanical systems operation under contract with customer.
  • Clean and provide routine maintenance of solar energy equipment.
  • Perform Indoor Air Quality related work including duct systems and drain pans.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers through effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Provide quote estimates for labor and material repairs and upgrades as needed.
  • Use cutting-edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, rigging equipment, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company-issued and procured assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.
  • Work as part of a team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of service to all customers, which may require flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires.
Requirements
  • Generally, required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
