Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Eye Care Specialist to join our team at Palmetto Retina Center. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and possess a strong understanding of ophthalmic practices.

Estimated Salary

$45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist doctors with patient care, perform technical workups, and conduct special testing as needed.
  • Communicate with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, etc.
  • Maintain and clean all equipment used, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Perform minor office surgery, including ocular preparation for sterile injections.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and attend required meetings.
Required Skills
  • Efficiently interview patients and document histories.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications.
  • Accurately perform visual acuity measurements, tono-pen tonometry, Amsler's Grid Testing, muscle testing, and pupil exams.
  • Utilize proper eye drop technique and sterility.
  • Display consistent professionalism, energy, and empathy with patients.
  • Take pride and ownership in the success and image of Palmetto Retina Center.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • PREFERRED: JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification.
  • ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE IN OPHTHALMOLOGY PREFERRED.
