Perioperative Nurse

As a Perioperative Nurse with SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your expertise will ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities- Position patients to give optimal exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
- Implement physicians' orders to provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
- Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
- Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
- Apply the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient-specific needs and clinical requirements.
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education programs.
- Two years' registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty or an APRN with completed RNFA program.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
