Job Overview

Healthcare Staffing Professionals, Inc is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to fill a position in a correctional facility located in Sussex, VA.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of inmates' physical therapy needs using standardized tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans to enhance or maintain physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent dysfunction in patients.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and education on posture and body mechanics.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, and correctional staff to ensure comprehensive care addressing all aspects of an inmate's health.
  • Provide guidance on injury prevention and healthy lifestyle strategies within the correctional environment.
  • Comply with facility policies and procedures regarding safety, security, and confidentiality.
  • Supervise and guide physical therapy assistants and aides.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution.
  • A valid state license to practice physical therapy.
  • At least 2 years of experience in physical therapy, with preference given to experience in high-stress environments or working with underserved populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, correctional staff, and medical professionals.
  • The ability to manage a full caseload and deliver treatment within the structured correctional environment.
  • Knowledge of diverse therapeutic techniques and interventions.
