We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our team at R. Joe Harris & Associates Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage Survey Crews
    • Direct and supervise survey crews in the field, ensuring the successful completion of surveying projects.
    • Provide guidance, direction, and support to crew members to achieve project goals.
  • Plan and Organize Surveying Activities
    • Determine surveying methods, procedures, and equipment requirements based on project specifications.
    • Develop and implement plans to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
  • Conduct Field Surveys
    • Use total stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments to collect accurate data for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and other surveying tasks.
    • Perform calculations and analysis of survey data to generate accurate survey plats, maps, and reports.
  • Maintain and Calibrate Surveying Equipment
    • Ensure proper functionality and accuracy of surveying equipment at all times.
    • Perform routine maintenance and calibration tasks to prevent equipment downtime.
  • Communicate Effectively
    • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other team members to coordinate surveying activities and address project requirements.
    • Communicate effectively to resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during surveying projects.
  • Ensure Safety Protocols
    • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for survey crew members and other personnel on site.
  • Mentor and Train Junior Crew Members
    • Provide guidance and support to junior survey crew members to help them develop their skills and knowledge in surveying techniques and procedures.
  • Stay Informed
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in surveying technology, and changes in surveying regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Survey Crew Chief or in a similar surveying role.
  • Skills
    • Proficiency in operating total stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Education
    • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain licensure in the future.
