Job Overview:

This role serves as a key member of the Business Development Team at Select Specialty Hospital - Madison, Inc., focusing on managing referral intake and admission processes. The Admissions Coordinator will work closely with various departments to prepare for patient admissions.

About the Job:
Responsibilities:
  • Lead daily conversion calls with the Business Development team to discuss referrals and admissions.
  • Verify Medicare benefits and secondary/supplemental insurance plans for patients referred to Transitions of Care (TOC).
  • Enter accurate referral, admission, denial, and/or conversion data into online programs and databases.
  • Maintain zero deficiencies to prevent holds and ensure hospital financial viability.
  • Communicate relevant data to clinical liaisons, case managers, prior authorization teams, and physicians to facilitate admission preparation.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, ensuring all necessary equipment, medication, and supplies are available in the patient's room.
  • Physically admit patients, provide facility tours, and obtain signed consent to treat forms.

Requirements:
  • Prior experience in hospitals, physician practices, or insurance environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.

Preferred Skills:
  • Direct experience in third-party insurance verification and knowledge of Medicare benefit application is advantageous.
  • Previous customer service experience in health insurance companies or providers is beneficial.
  • Experience with obtaining prior authorizations is a plus.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
