About the Role:
The Ophthalmic Technician I is a key member of our vision services team at the Gundersen Winona Eye Clinic. As an Ophthalmic Technician I, you will provide technical assistance to our ophthalmologists and optometrists, assisting with appointments and diagnostic testing. No prior experience in vision or eye care is required, as all training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with ophthalmic physicians, technicians, and other department personnel to provide eye care services to patients.
- Assist with routine eye examination procedures, including refractometry, muscle balance, visual fields, tonometry, slit lamp exam, and keratometry.
- Operate and maintain diagnostic and medical equipment, performing minor repairs when possible.
- Ensure patient comfort and respond to their concerns, consistent with the mission and values of Gundersen Health System.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification by JCAHPO within 18 months of hire.
