Position Summary

Provide athletic training services to athletes under the direction of the team physician or written referral from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act.

Respond and act in all emergency and urgent medical situations within the program being covered.

Document all care administered and injuries evaluated per the CHAI injury assessment reporting provided.

Follow up with the Program Manager or Director within 48 hours of the event, unless earlier as dictated by the urgency of the medical care provided.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage the healthcare and safety of players, including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, and application of appropriate modalities.
  2. Develop rehabilitation and injury-risk reduction programs, conduct rehabilitation, and make medical referrals.
  3. Demonstrate good communication skills with athletes, athletic directors, coaches, physicians, and parents regarding athlete's playing status and ability to return to competition.
  4. Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Requirements
  1. Preferred: At least 2 years of job-related experience.
  2. Required: Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  3. Preferred: NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
  4. Required: Licensed in the State of Texas as an Athletic Trainer Upon Hire.
  5. Required: BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association Upon Hire.
