Furnace Operator

START is seeking a skilled Furnace Operator to join our team in the Metro Detroit Area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating batch furnaces and supervising batch rackers. • Operate batch furnaces and ensure accurate racking of product
• Supervise batch rackers and provide guidance and support as needed
• Burn shims and complete paperwork for the batch department
• Perform routine maintenance on the carbon analyzer
• Verify accuracy of racking and unracking of product
• Assist with racking and unracking of product
• Verify completion and accuracy of paperwork/tags within the department
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of furnace operation and batch racking procedures. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

Education and/or experience in a related field is preferred, but not required. You will need to be able to pass a HI-LO test and have a strong understanding of safety procedures.

This role will require you to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to extreme heat. You will need to be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and work in a moderately loud environment.
