Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting our Tampa team within our established solid waste practice, which focuses on delivering engineering solutions to both private and municipal clients in the landfill, landfill gas, composting, and waste management sectors. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the design and permitting processes for landfill and landfill gas collection systems, industrial wastewater management, and stormwater control, including the creation of construction plans and specifications.
  • Preparing permit applications and regulatory submissions for solid waste facilities and environmental control systems, along with developing comprehensive responses supported by relevant documentation.
  • Collecting samples from various sites, including hazardous and non-hazardous locations, such as soil, air, surface water, groundwater, and landfill gas.
  • Supervising drilling operations that involve monitoring well installations, borehole logging, well development, and sampling activities.
  • Conducting and documenting quality assurance observations during construction to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Performing quality control reviews on all deliverables (reports, design plans, calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission.
  • Coordinating effectively with contractors, subcontractors, and clients with support from project management.
  • Collaborating with other technical professionals in a team environment to meet client objectives.
  • Working alongside GIS and CAD drafters for design plans or utilizing AutoCAD or ArcGIS for basic design tasks.
  • Preparing calculations and engineering analyses to support design documents and reports as needed.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 3 months of relevant experience through internships, work, or research in solid waste or environmental engineering is necessary.
  • Proficiency in learning AutoCAD or similar software is essential.
  • Fieldwork is expected to comprise 10-20% of your time, with the remainder spent in our Tampa office.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • A valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $69,000, depending on experience and location. This range does not include bonuses or eligibility for our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
