We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at St. Tammany Health System. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing facility and equipment maintenance at our main campus and hospital-owned off-site facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Clean and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, including coils, motors, and drain pans
  • Install electrical circuits, piping for water and drain lines, and other equipment as needed
  • Read and utilize blueprints to identify and address maintenance issues
  • Respond to and repair maintenance calls for blocked drain lines, malfunctioning ice machines, HVAC units, and other equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including changing oil in compressors, air filters in HVAC units, and cleaning cooling towers
  • Inspect and repair wheelchairs, beds, furniture, and other equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Life Safety Codes and department policies
  • Manage time efficiently and complete tasks accurately, including documentation
  • Assist Mechanic II's as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Three years of experience in two or more building crafts, such as plumbing, commercial electric work, refrigeration and air conditioning, pneumatics, etc.
  • Minimum Type Level I and II refrigerant transition and recovery certification required within six months of hire
  • Valid and current state-issued driver's license
  • Proof of automobile insurance
  • Clear driving record check

Physical Demands:

  • Good physical health required
  • Lifting at least 100 pounds
  • Ability to work with moderate noise levels
