Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager Indirect Millwork to join our team at Builders FirstSource. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing production lines of the facility in the most timely, productive, and cost-effective method possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the General Manager, manage production lines of the facility in the most timely, productive, and cost-effective method possible.
  • Responsible for the overall production and physical conditions of the location's facilities and equipment.
  • Partner with lead managers of departments and help to train and develop personnel involved in the production function in these departments.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Direct the implementation of safe operating practices in compliance with Company and regulatory policies.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
  • Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • 4-5 years of directly related experience in the lumber or building materials industry with multiple assignments in all phases of the business.
  • Knowledge/experience in building materials, procurement, inventory management, and supervision of people is required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, trade journals, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
