About the Position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a skilled Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect all phases of transportation construction work, including the placement of materials such as concrete and drainage materials.
  • Collaborate with contractors to check grades, elevations, and structure or roadway stake-outs.
  • Perform compaction testing of surfaces like soil, strata, or others.
  • Communicate with federal, state, local agencies, and the general public about projects.
  • Help resolve problems in the field.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics or equivalent.
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology or equivalent.
Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
