Position Overview:

This role is essential for maintaining the safety and security of the designated educational facility. The security personnel are integral to fostering a positive atmosphere within the school district. The primary focus of the Security Director and the team is to cultivate a composed and structured environment for all stakeholders. The Security Team is actively involved in safeguarding the well-being of students, staff, visitors, and the premises.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage security surveillance systems and facility security apparatus, patrolling hallways, stairwells, and both interior and exterior areas to ensure the safety of all individuals.
  • Enforce traffic regulations and manage parking issues as necessary.
  • Assist staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders in addressing various situations, including emergencies or disturbances.
  • Provide support to facility personnel as required.
  • Ensure that all individuals within the facility display proper identification and assist with directions as needed.
  • Guide visitors and verify their identification.
  • Report any disciplinary violations, unauthorized individuals, and vandalism to the appropriate authorities. Notify administration and emergency personnel of any urgent or unusual occurrences, adhering to established policies.
  • Immediately inform relevant personnel of any signs of substance abuse, child neglect, severe medical issues, or individuals appearing under the influence of substances.
  • Exhibit and promote a positive demeanor, professionalism, and respect towards all members of the school community.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure that uniforms and equipment are in good condition.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development programs.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of records and information, exercising discretion in sharing information within legal boundaries.
  • Comply with federal laws, state regulations, and district policies.
  • Provide security at school board meetings, athletic events, and other activities outside regular duty hours.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: To succeed in this position, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Oklahoma CLEET Armed Guard License and must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and ability to meet insurance requirements.
  • Must provide own registered weapon, ammunition, and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Ability to operate and maintain security equipment.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact fairly with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to uniform and grooming standards.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including email and security software.
  • Ability to pass a physical fitness assessment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with tactical duty equipment.
  • Three years of experience in a security role.
  • Experience in a school environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to write legibly and perform computer tasks.
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret documents.
  • Normal hearing range and clear speaking abilities.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas for extended durations.
  • Ability to respond quickly to incidents requiring security intervention.
Work Environment:
  • Work will be conducted in well-lit, climate-controlled settings and outdoors as necessary.
