We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accessioning Clerk to join our team at Penn State Health. As an Accessioning Clerk, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture, registering patients into the hospital registration system, and accessioning laboratory physician's orders into the laboratory information system.
Key Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples from patients
- Register patients into the hospital registration system and verify demographic information
- Accommodate laboratory physician's orders into the laboratory information system
- Ensure proper handling and storage of patient specimens
- Maintain knowledge of regulations applicable to the lab and hospital to ensure compliance
- High school diploma plus 6 months experience in Phlebotomy required
- Good written and oral communication skills required
- Good customer service skills required
- Good computer skills required
- Knowledge of first aid required
- Medical Assistant experience or clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
