Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Manager to oversee all aspects of quality assurance and control processes within our USDA food manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs and procedures to ensure compliance with USDA regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Quality Control: Establish and execute robust quality control systems, including inspection protocols, product testing procedures, and quality metrics to monitor and maintain product quality throughout the production process.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting systems to track quality metrics, monitor trends, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate suppliers, conduct audits, and ensure that raw materials and ingredients meet quality specifications and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, streamline processes, and optimize operational efficiency within the quality department and across the organization.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to production staff on quality procedures, standards, and best practices to promote a culture of quality excellence and accountability.
  • Non-Conformance Management: Investigate and address non-conformities, customer complaints, and quality issues promptly, implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in USDA regulations, industry trends, and best practices, ensuring that the facility remains in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including production, R&D, engineering, and logistics, to address quality-related issues, support new product development initiatives, and drive overall business objectives.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control roles within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in a USDA-regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP principles, FSMA requirements, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience with quality management systems, ERP systems, and data analysis tools preferred.
  • SQF Certifications (Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or relevant professional certifications are a plus).
