Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented EVS Technician to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As an EVS Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
  • Follow policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
  • Stock supplies and equipment in assigned areas as needed.
  • Maintain cart and equipment in clean, working condition and store in appropriate storage area.
  • Promote safety in the workplace by using wet floor signs, personal protective equipment, and not leaving housekeeping cart or supplies unattended.
  • Use chemicals and equipment in an effective and safe manner, following proper procedures and guidelines.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment needing repairs and report any safety hazards to manager.
  • Communicate with supervisor and other staff members to ensure effective teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with hospital personnel, while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one year of environmental services, housekeeping, janitorial, or related experience.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff, and use proper tracking and communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Physical demands include lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of environmental services experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
