Position Overview:
This role is essential in ensuring a secure and protected environment for patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and staff, enabling the delivery of quality services with minimal risks to personal safety and property.
The individual will be tasked with monitoring and patrolling the facility premises, identifying and reporting suspicious activities and unsafe conditions. Responsibilities include managing access control, overseeing key distribution, and responding to emergencies effectively. The role also involves providing assistance and security services to staff, physicians, patients, and visitors, which may include managing potentially violent situations. Furthermore, the individual will investigate incidents and maintain communication with local law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Security:
- Conducts regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the building and grounds to deter fire, theft, and vandalism.
- Manages the locking and unlocking of facility entrances at designated times.
- Inspects elevators and fire escape routes, reporting any issues to the maintenance team.
- Monitors surveillance systems and inspects access points to prevent losses and damages.
- Observes behavior during patrols to prevent incidents and ensure safety.
- Responds to emergency codes and participates in fire drills.
- Provides security training and conducts drills for safety preparedness.
Emergency Response:
- Responds to emergency situations, including disorderly conduct, potential abductions, bomb threats, and evacuations.
- Restrains individuals when necessary and coordinates with local authorities.
- Documents all incidents, observations, and witness statements accurately.
- Collaborates with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
Incident Documentation:
- Reports unusual circumstances to the Lead Security Officer and completes Security Incident Reports.
- Maintains clear and accurate records of incidents, traffic violations, and inspections.
Customer Service:
- Assists patients, visitors, and staff with inquiries to ensure safety and promote positive relations.
- Acts as the primary contact for security-related assistance.
- Helps with lost and found inquiries and answers general questions regarding security policies.
- Identifies individuals needing special assistance and provides appropriate support.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- BSIS - Proprietary Private Security Officer certification.
- California Driver's License Class C.
- At least one year of relevant experience in security.
Skills and Knowledge:
Possesses a solid understanding of security officer responsibilities, demonstrating the maturity and judgment necessary for effective performance in a healthcare setting. Critical thinking and the ability to work independently are essential. Proficient in writing incident reports and interpreting various instructions.
