The Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for formulating and implementing a comprehensive purchasing and inventory oversight strategy that aligns with the objectives of Wausau Coated Products, Inc. This position aims to guarantee product quality, enhance reliability, minimize waste, and boost overall productivity. The role requires the establishment and nurturing of strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, exempt role; standard hours are Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, or as designated.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sourcing:

  • Formulate sourcing strategies and procurement methodologies that align with corporate objectives.
  • Facilitate business expansion, enhance profitability, and mitigate risks through effective supplier network management.
  • Engage in negotiations for supplier contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Oversee the implementation of operational best practices.
  • Establish relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to manage supplier and operational effectiveness.
  • Track and report on supplier performance metrics.
  • Maintain and communicate pertinent supplier pricing, industry cost indices, and market trends.
  • Execute cost-saving initiatives and innovative negotiation tactics.

Materials Management:

  • Conduct market analysis and assess delivery systems for material availability.
  • Evaluate the value and quality of materials and suppliers.
  • Address issues related to defective or substandard materials with suppliers.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams regarding raw material availability and specifications.

Inventory Control:

  • Develop procedures to manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Establish and maintain vendor-supported inventory management programs.
  • Ensure regular and precise cycle counts.
  • Effectively manage aged inventory.

Leadership:

  • Guide and mentor team members.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance.
  • Resolve team conflicts and facilitate training opportunities.
  • Set and track team objectives.
  • Optimize team resources and budget allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.

Skills:

  • Proven experience in sourcing programs, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong market, cost, and supplier analysis capabilities.
  • Experience sourcing from international suppliers.
  • Expertise in risk mitigation and delivering cost savings.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with effective leadership abilities.
