POSITION SUMMARY:
The Culinary Team Leader, reporting to the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef, is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of kitchen staff. This role involves determining food presentation standards and creating visually appealing food displays while ensuring proper portion control. The Culinary Team Leader plays a crucial role in assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and motivating team members. This position is key in delivering exceptional hospitality by ensuring that every interaction reflects proactive guest service and fostering a collaborative culinary environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute various cooking techniques, manage portion control, and adhere to recipes as per the standards established by the Executive Chef.
- Oversee multiple workstations within the kitchen, utilizing equipment such as knives, steamers, sauté stations, fryers, ovens, and more.
- Monitor the quality of food items and communicate with the Chef regarding any discrepancies.
- Ensure timely food production and preparation that meets Crescent Services' quality and presentation standards; address any issues or areas for improvement with the Chef or direct supervisor.
- Guide the team in proper food usage and rotation practices.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in all food storage areas and walk-in coolers on a daily basis.
- Uphold a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Ensure that all prep work is completed efficiently for the subsequent shift.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef, Managing Chef, or Sous Chef, demonstrating flexibility in response to changes in the work environment or workload.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant culinary experience.
- Completion of safety training and certifications, including Food Handlers; ServSafe certification is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Basic oral and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions.
- Adherence to uniform standards, including slip-resistant and enclosed footwear.
- Up-to-date knowledge of food safety programs and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
