About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons and other medical staff during operations
- Pass instruments, sponges, and other necessary items to the surgical team
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts to ensure accuracy
- Assume care of specimens until they are turned over to a Registered Nurse
- Protect patients from potential injury and contamination of the sterile field
- Restock supplies and maintain a clean and organized operating room
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or on-the-job training with two years of scrub experience in an OR setting
- Surgical Technologist certification preferred
- American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification at HCP Level required
- Three to six months of orientation/training depending on experience
