Key Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to assess patient needs, prioritize care, and implement appropriate interventions. The nurse will embody the mission and values of St. Gabriel's, integrating Christian ethics into their practice.

Core Responsibilities Include:
  • Delivering fundamental bedside care to patients.
  • Maintaining professionalism while managing multiple urgent tasks efficiently.
  • Conducting triage, documenting vital signs, and gathering comprehensive patient histories.
  • Collaborating with physicians and adhering to established protocols.
  • Administering prescribed medications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Educating patients and families on care processes.
  • Stabilizing patients and managing basic life support until a physician is available.
  • Accurately documenting all care provided in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring adequate supply levels and maintaining medical equipment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Active RN license in Minnesota
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 12 months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 24 months of hire
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within 24 months of hire
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) may substitute for TNCC
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may substitute for ENPC
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in emergency nursing
  • Familiarity with nursing principles, policies, procedures, and hospital ethics
