Electrical Estimating Director Job Summary:

The Electrical Estimating Director at William Charles Construction is responsible for overseeing the electrical estimating department in high voltage construction projects. This role involves managing estimating resources, coordinating bids, and improving estimating practices while ensuring effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the firm's estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving estimating practices.
  • Direct, plan, organize, and coordinate estimating team members.
  • Conduct project meetings/huddles as needed to communicate project requirements.
  • Establish timelines and estimating goals for effective and timely submittals.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between disciplines and parties.
  • Work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives.
  • Develop department protocols for best estimating practices.
  • Review and approve bids, specifications, drawings, and contracts to proactively solve potential issues.
  • Inform preconstruction staff of project requirements and owner directives, and develop a plan to meet stated goals.
  • Assist with time extensions as needed with clients.
  • Manage and develop the estimating department.
  • Act as Hiring Manager for the department by evaluating needs, producing requisitions for new staffing resources, and conducting interviews with candidates.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in construction estimating, leadership, and mentoring.
  • A history of successfully leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others.
  • Solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading estimating software.
  • Understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications.

We offer an estimated annual salary of $165,000 to $185,000 based on experience.
