Nurse Practitioner

This position provides primary care and treatment to a group of patients in a clinic or hospital unit. The ideal candidate will have the ability to assess the physical condition of patients, formulate medical plans, and consult with physicians as needed. The Nurse Practitioner will also be responsible for ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing selected invasive procedures, and initiating medical drug therapies. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to maintain accurate and complete medical records, participate in quality improvement activities, and counsel patients and families about health and illness. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing, licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah, and certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS. Responsibilities
Assess the physical condition of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
Formulate medical plans and prognoses based on patient conditions.
Consult with physicians regarding patient healthcare plans and treatment.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and healthcare needs.
Perform selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within the scope of validated competence.
Initiate and/or recommend medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
Comply with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Counsel patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promote health maintenance.
Evaluate, plan, implement, and re-evaluate the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
Requirements
Master's degree in Nursing.
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
