Job Summary

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking a skilled Traveling Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Operating Room team. As a Travel Nurse in this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient operating room workflow.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, taking into account the patient's medical history, current condition, and treatment goals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients before, during, and after surgery, identifying potential complications and taking prompt action to address them.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, monitoring patients for adverse reactions and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure that all parties are informed and involved in the patient's care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with the latest medical research, technologies, and best practices in cardiovascular operating room nursing.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of New Jersey.
  • 2.5+ years of experience in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, with a strong background in circulatory and vascular nursing.
  • Experience with endovascular and vascular procedures, including AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and arteriogram.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities with ease.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities, remaining flexible and composed under pressure.

Work Schedule

  • 13-week contract.
  • On-call requirement: on-call 24 hours SAT/SUN (one weekend per month), on-call 8 hour shift 2 weekdays either 3-11 or 11-7.

  • Float: Main OR for primarily Ortho & General cases.
