Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Pediatrics Outpatient Casual Days

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in the Pediatrics Outpatient department. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their maximum potential and independence.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement occupational therapy programs to maximize function and educate patients about their limitations.
  • Evaluate patients and gather information to determine accurate clinical diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Establish goals based on functional limitations, diagnosis, and patient home setting.
  • Communicate treatment programs to patients, families, and interdisciplinary personnel, providing emotional support as needed.
  • Coordinate and implement treatment plans.
  • Treat patients using therapeutic exercise, functional activities, manual techniques, adaptive equipment, and energy conservation.
  • Evaluate home settings and make recommendations for safe and efficient function.
  • Re-evaluate patients to maintain effective plans of care and recertify for additional periods.
  • Plan for patient discharge by conferring with physicians, patients, interdisciplinary teams, and families, reviewing and finalizing exercise programs and practices for independent and safe care.
  • Document initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, and discharge summaries in patient records accurately and within specified time frames.
  • Develop and present educational programs for the department and community as needed.
  • Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides as required.
  • Maintain CEU licensure requirements.
  • Report safety hazards and suggest improvements.
  • Adhere to recognized safety standards, such as National Patient Safety Goals and OSHA standards.
  • Treat all team members with courtesy and respect.
  • Encourage cooperation, collaboration, and co-ownership of processes.
  • Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness in words and actions.
  • Assume personal accountability and seek solutions rather than blame.
  • Improve processes, systems, products, or services to increase customer value.
  • Solve problems quickly and identify causes.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, such as the employee code of conduct, attendance, and parking policies.
  • Support organizational and operational improvement activities.
Qualifications:
  • Illinois OT License. Current Illinois license in a clinical discipline.
  • One year or less of related work experience required, demonstrating familiarity with routines and procedures customary to the position.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate broad and thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices in a professional discipline, specialized or occupational field.
