  • Position Overview
    • The Neurodiagnostic Specialist is responsible for conducting various diagnostic evaluations as directed by a physician. This includes performing electroencephalography (EEG), long-term monitoring (LTM), and nerve conduction studies (NCS). Key responsibilities encompass adhering to established protocols, troubleshooting equipment to ensure optimal performance, and preparing both electronic and written documentation of all procedures and outcomes.
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Professional Experience
      • Prior experience in Neurodiagnostic practices, including EEG, NCS, and/or polysomnography (PSG) is highly desirable.
    • Educational Background
      • Completion of a recognized Respiratory program, a CAAHEP accredited or ABRET acknowledged program, or possession of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Certificate, along with an Associate's degree, or equivalent experience in EEG is required.
    • Licensure/Certification
      • No specific certifications are mandated.
  • Performance Expectations
    • The following duties represent the primary functions of this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary, and specific tasks may evolve over time:
      • Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing various Neurodiagnostic equipment effectively.
      • Coordinates and organizes testing schedules.
      • Prepares comprehensive electronic and written reports to document all tests and procedures.
      • Manages inventory and orders supplies as required.
      • Utilizes the hospital's information system to retrieve patient data and accurately record charges.
      • Maintains compliance records as required by regulatory bodies.
      • Keeps assigned work areas tidy and organized, participating in the cleaning and sterilization of Neurodiagnostic tools.
      • Calibrates equipment prior to patient assessments, troubleshoots any issues, and identifies neurological irregularities such as seizure activity during EEG testing, correlating findings with brain mapping.
