In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and execution of advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems tailored for small satellite missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of sophisticated GNC algorithms and control systems for small satellite missions.
  • Conduct mission analysis, trajectory optimization, and orbit determination to achieve mission goals.
  • Oversee sensor integration, including star trackers, sun sensors, and GPS receivers, into satellite platforms.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the seamless integration of GNC systems with other subsystems.
  • Analyze and enhance system performance, focusing on stability, robustness, and response time.
  • Conduct simulations and testing to validate GNC algorithms and control systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement of GNC processes and methodologies, sharing knowledge with the engineering team.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in GNC engineering for small satellite systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional growth.
  • Contribute to strategic planning regarding technical direction and future advancements in GNC for satellite missions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) and 5+ years of experience, or BS + 10 years in an engineering discipline focused on control systems or orbital mechanics.
  • Extensive expertise in guidance, navigation, and control principles applicable to satellite systems.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing advanced GNC algorithms for space missions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ or Python for algorithm development.
  • Deep understanding of orbital mechanics and trajectory optimization.
  • Strong familiarity with satellite guidance and navigation sensors.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools for GNC analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Previous leadership experience in GNC engineering is highly desirable.
  • Ability to design, build, and test software from the ground up.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
  • Must meet U.S. Government space technology export regulations.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in software testing and verification.
  • Designing or prototyping space systems software.
  • Hardware-in-the-loop and Software-in-the-loop testing experience.
  • End-to-end mission experience.
  • Understanding of electro-optical payloads.
  • Mission operations experience.
