At Suncoast Center, we are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist or Intern to join our team in providing in-home counseling services to new parents.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Pinellas County Health Department home visitor program to coordinate care and promote healthy development for young children and wellbeing for their parents.

We pride ourselves on supporting the growth and development of our clinicians, including free qualified supervision, continuing education, and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling to new parents experiencing family stress, mental health concerns and trauma to decrease the likelihood of abuse or neglect.
  • Complete mental health and psychosocial assessments as part of the diagnostic evaluation.
  • Provide evidence-based mental health treatment to clients either in person or via telehealth.
  • Conduct intakes, treatment planning, and psychotherapy services to diverse populations.
  • Collaborate with agency and community partners for supervision, staffing, and team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited graduate school with a Master's degree in clinical social work, clinical psychology, mental health counseling or related human service field.
  • Registered intern pursuing licensure pursuant the provisions of Chapter 491, Florida Statutes as a social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist preferred.
  • Experience in using evidence-based therapeutic interventions with adults and families, knowledge regarding the effects of violence on children, and use of effective strategies for crisis intervention and prevention.
