The department encompasses various functions including procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality assurance, logistics, and inventory management.

SpaceX's supply chain will be instrumental in helping the company achieve its ambitious growth objectives and significantly contribute to our vision of becoming a multi-planetary species.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate proactive engagement in creating innovative methods or processes to guarantee the highest quality products and efficient operational practices.

Assess the technical viability of work content while comprehending suppliers' technical strengths and limitations.

Facilitate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) discussions informed by vendor insights.

Ensure that partners are equipped to support prototype development with the necessary resources and materials to ensure successful product development and production ramp-up.

Take charge of team initiatives to devise and execute sourcing and cost management strategies that support both existing platforms and new product innovations.

Articulate value propositions to SpaceX leadership, addressing contract awards, cost evaluations, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply challenges.

Manage costs diligently to ensure compliance with project-specific budgets and forecasts, while developing should-cost models for competitive cost assessments.

Create comprehensive technology and commodity roadmaps for current commodities and products as they relate to future SpaceX initiatives.

Act as the liaison between supply chain and engineering during supplier selection processes while maintaining or improving cost targets.

Build and sustain strong relationships across various disciplines and management levels.

Oversee the supply base from inception to end-of-life to ensure continuity of supply with the appropriate materials and timely delivery.

Responsible for generating purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials for both internal and external operations, resolving invoices, and meeting quality and cost objectives.

Guide junior team members in their roles and provide strategic support as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following fields; or a bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience; or 9+ years of experience in:

Engineering

Procurement

Contract negotiation

Material or production planning

Operations or supply chain management

Material cost management

Master production scheduling

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Proficient in managing external supply chains and suppliers on both domestic and international levels.

Extensive experience within a commodity, including technical procurement, product development, new product introduction, manufacturing, and high-volume product negotiations.

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes.

Demonstrated history of ownership, successful negotiation of favorable pricing, and delivering results.

Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.

Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Conduct all activities with the utmost integrity.

Experience in planning the procurement of commodity products and third-party services in collaboration with product development, quality assurance, finance, and sales teams.

Prior experience in managing semiconductor sourcing, including knowledge of raw materials, plastics, sheet metal, machining, die casting, or thermal forming.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the work week, including international travel.

Availability to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary to meet critical milestones.

This position requires onsite presence, with remote work not being an option.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy Manager:
$110,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year


Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX.

Additional benefits may include long-term incentives in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and opportunities to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Employees may accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually.

Exempt employees are entitled to 5 days of sick leave per year.
