The Medical Support Specialist - Plastic Surgery is a vital member of the healthcare team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to physicians, nurses, and other medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure efficient patient flow through the clinic by escorting patients to exam rooms, identifying patients with two identifiers, and preparing patients for examination.
- Obtain accurate vital signs, adhering to organization standards.
- Document reason for visit, update, and confirm allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information.
- Promptly inform the provider and registered nurse of any significant change in vital signs or acute symptoms.
- Anticipate and set up equipment or supplies needed for visits.
- Clean and prepare exam rooms for the next patient.
- Respond to needs to expedite visits and maintain flow of patients, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
- Assist practitioners with medical and surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide high-quality care by preparing and stocking exam rooms, following established protocols for disinfecting and sterilizing equipment and instruments.
- Participate in environmental safety rounds.
- Maintain vaccine and medication inventory.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and instruments according to clinic guidelines.
- Assist in ordering supplies and correctly disposing of expired items.
- Adhere to office opening and closing procedures.
- Function as an integral part of the patient care team, promoting patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional and friendly manner.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
