Job Description


As a Drill Site Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of horizontal directional drill rigs, locating equipment, and product support equipment. You will work closely with our team to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.


Responsibilities


Some of your key responsibilities will include:



  • Operating horizontal directional drill rigs for the installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable
  • Ensuring the safety of the public and other utilities' underground facilities
  • Performing all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and using appropriate safety equipment
  • Setting up and cleaning work sites, including traffic and pedestrian control
  • Reading utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities
  • Ensuring all applicable permits and locates are complete and on-site
  • Inspecting work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications
  • Operating construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
  • Leveling earth to final grade specifications
  • Operating vehicles and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified
  • Performing proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment
  • Leading teams in the field effectively as needed and directed by your supervisor

Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need to have:



  • A strong track record of completing work with a high level of quality
  • A knack for figuring out hard problems and a hands-on approach to your work
  • At least 3 years of experience working with horizontal directional drill equipment
  • A valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain a CDL class A driver's license within 30 days of employment
  • Experience working in underground construction and fiber builds
  • Knowledge of city, county, and state clearance codes and related regulations
  • The ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather and work overtime as required
