About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Framing Carpenter to join our team at Lyman Lumber Company. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to carpentry, including constructing, repairing, restoring, and installing structural woodwork and related materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations by passing safety tests and following all safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and foremen, and prioritize daily duties.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Measure, calculate, and mark cutting lines on materials accurately, using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Select and supply crew members, carpenters, and leads with materials.
  • Use proper nailing procedures for all applications.
  • Use hand, pneumatic, and other power tools to measure, cut, and install sheathing for walls and roofs, and all wall components.
  • Finish, inspect, and ensure work complies with quality standards and expectations.
  • Keep the jobsite clean and safe.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program, certificate, or degree program at a vocational school or community college preferred.
  • Less than 1 year of carpentry experience in the commercial and/or residential sectors required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable of standard methods, practices, principles, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade and its associated occupational hazards.
  • Knowledgeable of the qualities, adaptability, and use of various woods and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of state codes and procedures, including energy codes.
  • Good work ethic, attitude, and reliability required.
  • Communicate, read, comprehend, and comply with Company policies and procedures, including safety and security.
