We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Surgical Specialty Unit at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality patient care, prioritizing the needs of each patient and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Work within the nursing process to provide safe and effective care, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in orientation and precepting new personnel, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to hospital standards.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, and attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses in a timely manner.
- 1 year of directly related experience as a Registered Nurse.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days.
- RN licensure in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement.
- Nationally Certified in area of specialty.
- PALS certification.
- TNCC and/or ENPC certification.
