This role entails ongoing evaluation of pharmacy operations to ensure a secure and efficient environment. The Manager guarantees that the department adheres to organizational policies and regulatory standards. Provides leadership for the daily functioning of the Pharmacy, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective pharmaceutical services. Oversees the operations and activities of IV admixture services, ensuring compliance with all operational and regulatory mandates. Develops and revises policies and procedures to align with regulatory standards and best practices. Continuously monitors workflow and devises strategies for ongoing enhancement. Additionally, accountable for maintaining a safe workplace.Essential Duties:
1. Directs, organizes, and supervises the operational activities of the department to ensure efficient and safe workflows with adequate staffing levels.
2. Oversees drug diversion prevention and monitoring efforts, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
3. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of IV admixture services in accordance with regulatory requirements.
4. Holds all responsibilities of the designated individual for all sterile and non-sterile compounding as outlined by regulatory authorities.
5. Manages pharmacy automation, including monitoring, reporting, and process enhancement.
6. Designs, implements, and executes departmental performance improvement initiatives related to safety, best practices, and regulatory compliance.
7. Provides corrective actions for performance improvement and medication management incidents, documenting actions taken and instituting preventative measures.
8. Manages departmental scheduling and ensures optimal staffing to meet workflow demands.
9. Oversees drug procurement, storage, inventory management, and dispensing processes.
10. Develops and updates departmental and organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
11. Actively participates in departmental, organizational, and health system committees and task forces, consistently contributing insights and recommendations.
12. Coordinates and monitors activities to effectively provide orientation, ongoing training, educational programs, and evaluation processes for pharmacy personnel.
13. Evaluates, monitors, and implements safe medication processes and optimal medication management practices.
14. Coordinates and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies regarding medication management processes.
15. Maintains a working knowledge and can perform basic staff duties to provide coverage for services if necessary.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
Completion and maintenance of all competencies and training as required for the role.
Doctorate Degree - OR - a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Doctorate Degree.
Experience:
Hospital pharmacy experience
Experience in hospital pharmacy operations, including leading projects and initiatives
Sterile IV compounding experience
Managerial or supervisory experience
Certification and Licensure:
PA Pharmacist License
