Job Title: Diagnostic Sonographer

Job Summary:

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures to patients.
  • Monitor and interpret medical diagnostic scans.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and provide sonographic guidance during processes.
  • Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations.
  • Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
  • Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient's inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures.
  • Conduct patient clinical assessment and perform diagnostic medical sonography examinations ordered by the supervising physician.
  • Apply independent judgment to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures.
  • Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination.
  • Review examination images, synthesize examination results, and prepare preliminary findings.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in allied health and completion of an approved one-year program in Ultrasound Technology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications.
  • ARDMS Registration, required.
  • Registered in vascular, required within the first 12 months of employment.
