The Campus Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the campus community by patrolling campus facilities and grounds, responding to emergency and safety incidents, and providing education on campus and state policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol campus facilities and grounds to ensure the safety and security of the campus community.
  • Respond to emergency and safety incidents in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Provide education on campus and state policies and procedures to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Perform recordkeeping and reporting of security and safety incidents.
  • Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and others to gather information and preserve evidence.

Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Security Patrol Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, or Peace Officer.
  • Associates degree in Law Enforcement, Paralegal, or related field may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • Ability to walk campus grounds, reach upward, climb ladders and stairs, move heavy objects.
  • Requires a Class D Drivers License.
  • Incumbent must pass driving and background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of applicable city ordinances, state and federal laws.
  • Knowledge of traffic control procedures and parking regulations.
  • Knowledge of standard police practices, including rules of evidence, investigation techniques, and procedures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security procedures.
