Job Title: Child Care Specialist
About the Role

We are seeking a Child Care Specialist to join our team at the YMCA of the Roses. This role involves providing a safe and engaging environment for children while their parents use our facilities.



Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per year

Responsibilities

  2. Supervise and participate in activities with children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  3. Implement basic health and safety policies, guiding children in cleanliness routines and promoting overall development.
  4. Document incidents and maintain accurate records.
  5. Practice infection control procedures and proper hand hygiene.
  6. Maintain a child-friendly environment, using appropriate discipline techniques as needed.
  7. Familiarize yourself with fire and emergency procedures, responding accordingly when necessary.
  8. Hold current Pediatric and Child CPR and First Aid certifications, completing annual abuse prevention and touch training.
  9. Attend staff meetings and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.
  10. Report any suspected child abuse to the coordinator or director.
  11. Prepare materials and equipment as required.
  12. Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures of the YMCA and Child Watch.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and treat families with dignity and respect.
  14. Perform janitorial duties, including cleaning tables and sweeping floors.


Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience working with children.
  • Must have or obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
  • Must have or obtain mandated reporter training.
