Atkore is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Technician to join our team in Dallas, TX. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assembling, disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining extrusion dies used to manufacture PVC pipe.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all work in a safe and controlled manner, following all safety rules and best practices.
  • Assemble extrusion die heads for product changeovers, wire external and internal heater bands on dies, and ensure each die zone is operating properly.
  • Responsible for taking die heads off of extruders at product changeovers, disassembling die heads for inspection and cleaning, and hanging die heads on extruders.
  • Perform changeover tasks on pullers, saws, and bellers, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and make necessary repairs.
  • Responsible for monitoring the condition of bell tooling, coordinating repairs and chroming, and minimizing production schedule interruptions.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining the die shop, storing numerous parts and supplies.
  • Responsible for maintaining and communicating inventory of die parts and supplies needed to make all products.
  • Attend required training sessions, wear required safety equipment, and operate forklifts, hoists, cranes, power tools, and hand tools.
Requirements:
  • Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a work environment with multiple competing demands.
  • Must follow safety rules and put safety ahead of shortcuts.
  • Must supply own hand tools and toolbox.
  • Must have experience with installation and repair of machinery.
  • Must have good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate calculations.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
