Position Overview: The Textile Production Operator is responsible for the preparation, manipulation, and assembly of fiber-based materials within a textile research and manufacturing environment.
Compensation: $20 - $22 per hour, depending on experience.
Work Schedule: 2nd shift: 2 PM – 10:30 PM; 3rd shift: 10 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handles glass yarns through various processes including skeining, washing, draining, coating, and drying.
- Manages the processing of glass fiber cloth and fibers, involving tasks such as caramelizing, continuous leaching, and drying.
- Operates and oversees auxiliary equipment related to leach lines, including tank farms and waste management systems.
- Processes rayon fabric through skeining, pre-carbonization, and washing procedures.
- Conducts high-temperature treatments of yarns, fibers, and cloths.
- Handles carbonaceous materials through low-temperature carbonizing and final firing processes.
- Initiates and shuts down equipment, ensuring proper monitoring of feeding and take-off operations.
- Generates production and quality reports while maintaining accurate logs.
- Prepares samples for quality assurance and conducts inspections for defects.
- Performs minor maintenance and reports any equipment malfunctions.
- Operates textile skeining and spooling machines, adjusting settings for optimal performance.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Experience with backhoe and tractor operation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with hand-held power tools and light equipment is advantageous.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Exhibits a positive and professional demeanor.
- Must pass a basic physical examination and drug screening.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods and accessing all areas of the work environment.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and climb ladders up to 25 feet.
