About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Warehouse Associate to join our team at Windy City Wire. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that offers an estimated salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Summary:

  • This role involves performing routine warehouse duties, including ordering, maintaining, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment required for our branch's functions.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency (Excel and Outlook), and basic mathematical principles.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor, including maintaining compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  2. Receive and unpack materials, supplies, parts, tools, and equipment; verify articles received against packing lists and purchase orders.
  3. Inspect materials, supplies, tools, and equipment received for quality and quantity; store materials received or deliver to the proper person or stock location.
  4. Use software and paper documentation to pick and process outgoing material (orders).
  5. Able to properly package outgoing material for safe shipment.
  6. Prepare various reports to assist in monitoring and evaluating warehouse operations.
  7. Maintain a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area.
  8. Maintain accurate records, files, and inventory control.
  9. Operate a variety of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, and related equipment.
  10. Learns and applies emerging technologies to perform duties efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Decent computer proficiency (Excel and Outlook).
  • Basic mathematical principles.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Follow department policies and procedures related to assigned duties.
  • Storekeeping and warehousing methods, types of parts, supplies, tools, equipment, and materials commonly used at the branch.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a cheerful outlook and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Forklift and order picker experience preferred.
  • Safe operation of a variety of warehouse machines and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory.
  • Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or email.

Certifications:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Forklift Operator's Certificate by end of probationary period.
