Culinary Specialist Job Description

Creative Dining Services is seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. As a key member of our Dining Services Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality food is served to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes and menus, ensuring food freshness, quality, and appeal.
  • Time Management: Manage food production to ensure all food is ready at the time of service.
  • Food Safety: Utilize safe food handling, storage, and service techniques at all times.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production records and logs, including food usage, overages, shortages, customer counts, and temperatures.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and sanitized work area, including the removal of refuse and putting away/pulling stock as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of cooking experience.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Certification: ServSafe Certification.
