Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Thoracic Clinic team at FirstHealth of the Carolinas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiovascular thoracic nursing and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a patient-centered care environment, focusing on patient involvement in goal development and self-management strategies.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of ECGs and telemetry, providing wound care, and managing chest tubes.
  • Effectively collaborate with inpatient and outpatient providers to coordinate patient transitions.
  • Work with confidential information, including patient records and prescriptions.
  • Maintain competency in skills and knowledge specific to chest tube management.
  • Provide patient education, schedule testing, and ensure pre and post-operative appointments are scheduled appropriately.
  • Obtain vital signs, triage phone calls, and perform medication reconciliation.
  • Manage prescription refills, maintain patient databases, and communicate with the OR team.
  • Ensure all loops of communication are closed regarding surgery postings and OR scheduling.
  • Manage in-baskets for urgent needs and document patient/provider interactions in the EMR.
  • Schedule referrals, prioritize urgent vs. non-urgent cases, and attend huddle and department meetings.
Qualifications
  • RN degree and current NC or Compact State License required.
  • ACLS and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinic/medical surgical nursing experience required.
  • Two years of Cardiovascular-Thoracic nursing experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of clinic experience preferred.
