We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at UF Health Family Medicine St. Mary's. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Take patient vital signs and prepare patients for examinations or treatments.
- Perform venipunctures and administer routine medications under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Accurately document patient information in medical records, including signatures, dates, and times.
- Administer medications as directed by and under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms, and collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
- Provide basic first aid and participate in performance improvement projects.
- Collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient care and provide exceptional customer service.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 1-year medical assistant experience preferred.
- 2-4 years of clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare-related industry, preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required or within 6 months of hire.
- Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.
- Experience with third-party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred.
