Position Title: Clinical Instructor - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Internal Medicine, Hematology/Oncology - Infusion Center - Part-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage infusion reactions, providing appropriate interventions.
- Ensure clarity in infusion orders and make necessary modifications.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of patients within the infusion clinic.
- Analyze laboratory findings and provide recommendations for patient care.
- Address complications arising from chemotherapy, including the preparation and modification of chemotherapy orders.
- Handle outpatient inquiries, focusing on toxicity assessments and care recommendations.
- Provide immediate care and management for walk-in patients experiencing illness.
- Educate patients and their families about potential chemotherapy toxicities.
- Utilize basic software applications and hospital information systems effectively.
- Additional duties may evolve as the role progresses.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- Nurse Practitioner: Must possess a current NYS RN license and a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Nursing. Required NYS license and certification as an Adult and/or Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Physician Assistant: Must hold a NYS License and certification as a Physician Assistant, along with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited PA program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing and treating patients with cancer.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with chemotherapy toxicities and infusion reactions.
Additional Information:
This is a Non-Tenure Track position. It is classified as FLSA Exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime provisions. Stony Brook University is dedicated to fostering diversity and creating an inclusive environment for learning and working.
