Job Title: Psychiatrist

Community Options is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states. Our mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live fulfilling lives. We are seeking an experienced Full-Time Psychiatrist to provide oversight in support of our Middlesex and Bergen, NJ programs.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide individualized services designed to assist participants in managing and overcoming the difficulties confronted when living in the community. The Psychiatrist will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans that promote the well-being and independence of our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical oversight and support to our youth services programs in Middlesex and Bergen, NJ.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and support staff, to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Consult with psychiatric hospitals and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in recurring team meetings to discuss client progress and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Complete Psychiatric Intake Assessments and reports within the first week of service.
  • Develop and implement treatment and safety plans within the first 24 hours of service.
  • Participate in medication management meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Complete clinical visits with youth as needed.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff, families, and providers on treatment team meetings.
  • Participate in on-site meetings with youth and families as needed.
  • Attend treatment team meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Be available 24/7 by contract.
  • Dedicate at least 75% of clinical hours to face-to-face interaction with youth and/or families, with the remaining time dedicated to ancillary tasks such as documentation, meetings, consultation, telephone calls, relevant research, and supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • New Jersey Board Certified or Board Eligible Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist.
  • Extensive experience treating individuals with IDD.
